Steven Andrew

Programming Showcase: European Channels

Steven Andrew joined the ITV Network as Controller of Children’s and Youth programmes in May 2003. Since then he has overseen all aspects of the CiTV brand including the commissioning, production and scheduling of approximately 650 hours of programming each year, the CiTV online service and monthly magazine and an increased programme budget of £38 million. Amongst many commissions Steven is responsible for the new flagship Saturday morning programme Ministry of Mayhem.

Steven previously held the position of Director of Children’s Programmes for Granada Kids, one of the largest commercial producers of children’s programmes in the UK. His role encompassed a wide variety of programming genres, from live action to animation and included well-known and diverse series such as the award winning My Parents Are Aliens, Jungle Run, Sooty and Girls in Love. Steven was also the CITV executive for the first two years of ‘SMTV’.

Before joining Granada in April 1998, Steven spent 13 years at the BBC working on a wide range of children’s programmes from the classic favourite Blue Peter to the widely respected Grange Hill.

He has four children whom he describes as his fiercest critics.
