MY EVENT

Marc Buhaj
VP Programming
Cartoon Network

How many hours or slots do you program per year?
We operate two 24/7 US domestic networks - Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Our teams' main focus is on acquiring and producing for Cartoon Network.

What percentage or number of hours are commissioned vs. acquired? (Ie. 60% commissions/ 40% acquisitions)
Approx. 50% of original series/commissioned and 50% acquired.

What is the average amount for acquisitions and/or license fee?
Rate varies considerably depending on terms and the show itself.

What are you looking for right now?
Currently our Acquisitions team is actively hunting out animated pre-school series, 6-11 animated comedy series, 6-11 animated action series, boys 9-14 animated action series and 18-34 comedy.

How do you prefer to be pitched?
Directly contact the Acquisitions department. They are so much more welcoming and a lot smarter than me!

What is your biggest pitch turnoff?
A lack of homework on who you are pitching to. It's a fundamental pointer but at the very least, know the channels and their direct competition before you approach.

What is your market circuit?
MIP, NATPE, Licensing show, etc and .... KIDSCREEN!
