Robert Tercek is internationally recognized as a pioneer of digital entertainment. Mr Tercek has the unique experience of launching multimedia programs and services on every digital platform, including: satellite and cable television, personal computers, game consoles, narrowband and broadband Internet, interactive television, and wireless networks.
Together with media entrepreneur Matt Edelman, Mr Tercek co-founded Multimedia Networks in 2006 to produce, publish and distribute branded entertainment across all broadband networks to PCs, televisions, game consoles and mobile devices.
Mr Tercek is a seasoned entrepreneur. Since 2000, he has participated in raising more than $250 million in strategic financing for new media startups. He played an instrumental role in managing the explosive worldwide growth of two of the leading companies in the field of wireless multimedia: PacketVideo Corporation and MFORMA Group. For both companies, Tercek established the publishing function, which includes the content programming, brand licensing & acquisitions, marketing and corporate communications departments. Tercek also set corporate strategy, and supervised significant transactions and M&A activity.
His new media credits include some of the most financially successful interactive entertainment programs, such as online and interactive TV versions of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune and the Monty Python game series. Tercek has supervised brand extension into new media in partnership with numerous major media companies, including Marvel Enterprises, Billboard/VNU Media, Warner Bros Studios, Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios, Activision, Atari, Hasbro, CBS SportsLine, The World Poker Tour.
To create interactive entertainment, Tercek draws upon his diverse background as a programming executive, television director, and game designer. Earlier in his career, Mr. Tercek served in executive management at Sony Pictures Entertainment, where he established Sony’s Digital Media studio, and at MTV: Music Television, where he launched the pop music channel in over 30 international territories. He co-founded game publisher 7th Level in 1993. He has directed and produced short films in India, Taiwan and Hong Kong, as well as an animated TV series for national syndication in the US. He was a creative director in the music industry, working with acts like the Rolling Stones, George Michael, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, RUN DMC as well as the largest outdoor rock concert in Russian history. He supervised the design and development of 22 online games for Sony’s online game site, the Station.
Mr. Tercek has been profiled in The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, The BBC, The Red Herring, The Hollywood Reporter, Electronic Media, Salon.com, the Asahi Shinbun, Le Monde and dozens of publications worldwide. He was selected by Variety as one of Hollywood’s “Digital Dozen,” the twelve most influential digital media executives. Mobile Entertainment UK named Tercek one of the 50 leading visionaries in mobile content.
A charismatic and persuasive proponent of digital media, Tercek has shared his vision for networked entertainment at many industry conferences, including 3GSM World Congress, E3 Electronic Entertainment Exposition, CES, COMDEX, CTIA, NATPE, NAB, MIPCOM, MIP/MILIA, Internet World, Wireless World, Mobile Content & Commerce, the Game Developer Conference, CDMA Americas Congress, the Rotterdam Film Festival, Digital Hollywood, and Billboard’s Digital Media Expo.
In 2001 Tercek founded the mobile game summit at the Game Developer Conference: today he serves as Chairman of GDC Mobile. Tercek is on the faculty of the University of Southern California School of Cinema-Television. He lives in Los Angeles and works internationally.
